About Angela Anderson
I follow inspiration, and work in series. Images and visual experiences that take my breath away, keep me coming back and going on... In between series I look and listen for the feeling of awe and excitement, seeking elements of movement and saturated color.
Trained as a figurative painter, my style shows I hope, my love of how colors and lines interact. It starts with composition, angles of perspective, and then color.
Each canvas size is a venue requiring its own treatment, small works want intimacy and the zen of gentle strokes, versus grand work of public and large spaces. Those large works involve a lot of excitement, big brushes, piles of paint.
Studio is one of my favorite places to be.
Ideas revolving around people and their stories, places and their forms and histories - these are my subjects. I love museums, music, films, and books.
I have always been an avid reader. For my upcoming show at the Camden Public Library (August 2018), I am focusing on how reading and books have entered into my painting life. Telling Stores through paintings…Artists Reception Aug. 3, 4-6, Camden, Maine.
